Preserving the Cultural Legacy of our Post Offices

Over 75 of America’s historic Post Offices have been sold, privatized, abandoned, left to decay or to be destroyed and thousands more are facing the same fate. Most of these buildings contain priceless public art intended by New Deal agencies to serve as national treasure and an important part of a community’s civic commons.  In defiance of federal law, the USPS is blatantly disregarding the mandates of preservation (NHPA) and environmental policy (NEPA) in selling these historic assets.  The NPOC will present what it is doing to demand democratic process and transparency in order to keep these trans-generational legacy buildings in the public domain.
