With over 500 miles of shoreline, the waterfront is in many ways New York’s “sixth borough.”  The city’s waterfront communities have their own unique set of challenges and opportunities - from the threat of climate change and rising sea levels, to the increased demand for open space and recreation facilities.  This Smart Talk will highlight the city’s work in lower Manhattan as an example of how policymakers can balance these competing interests through strategic capital projects and long-term planning.
